About The Plant Pages
Plain, plant-by-plant houseplant advice from people who actually keep plants alive (most of the time).
The Plant Pages exists because most houseplant advice online is either a 3,000-word essay that never answers your question, or a forum thread with six contradictory replies. We write the version we wish we'd had: the specific answer first, then the why, then exactly what to do.
How we research
Every guide is grounded in hands-on houseplant keeping and cross-checked against established horticultural sources — university extension programs, botanical gardens, and reputable plant references — before it's published. When something is a judgment call (and with plants, a lot is), we say so rather than pretending there's one right answer.
Who writes here
Mara Quinn — Mara has kept houseplants for over a decade — currently 60-some of them crammed into a Boston apartment. She writes the plain, plant-by-plant guides she wishes she'd had when her first fiddle leaf fig dropped every single leaf.
How we stay free
The Plant Pages is reader-supported through display ads and a handful of affiliate links to products we'd actually recommend. Affiliate links never change what you pay, and they never change what we recommend. See our Privacy & Disclosure page for the details.
